Defender makes his Marc
Cliftonville Football Club are delighted to have this evening completed the signing of central defender Marc Smyth on a
two-year contract.
The 29-year-old Scotland-born former Northern Ireland underage international joins from Scottish First Division side
Greenock Morton, with whom he starred for two seasons.
Formerly with Ayr United and Partick Thistle, the ex-Airdrie United captain made his Reds debut in last week's Friendly
victory over Portadown and also featured in this evening's 11-1 defeat of Bangor.
Chairman Gerard Lawlor said: "Marc comes very highly recommended and is a player whose name we have been
keen to get on a contract.
"He has been training with us and played in a couple of friendlies, which allowed Tommy Breslin to have a close look
at him and suffice to say he has been impressed. We are always happy to welcome new players to Solitude and I
trust that Marc will enjoy a mutually beneficial time here at Cliftonville."
