Cliftonville Football Development Centre has been running for nearly nine years and gone from strength to strength as each year passes. Kyle Spiers was appointed by the Irish Football Association as Cliftonville's Youth Development Officer in 2002 and the FDC has grown organically since then. Starting off with the Mini Soccer Centres held each week in the Waterworks and the Schools Curriculum Coaching, the FDC now has over 180 youths wearing the famous Red shirt every week, participating at levels from Under 10 right through to Under 19 ages. Currently our teams compete in the Castlereagh, South Belfast, Lisburn and IFA Youth Leagues and, in 2008, committed the relevant age groups to participate in the newly formed National Youth League which offers Cliftonville players a high standard of competition against the best teams in the country. With a focus firmly on development, the FDC offers every player the highest standard of football coaching and related activities such as our Strength & Conditioning programme and cardiac screening for our older age groups and all at the FDC hope to see a number of players starring for the first team in the future. The achievements of the Centre in such a short space of time have been apparent. Successes in the South Belfast League, NIBFA Cup, USA Cup, Champions of Champions Tournament and players being called into IFA County Development and Northern Ireland Schoolboy squads have only been eclipsed by the hundreds of local children who have been involved with Cliftonville Development Centre over the years. The Club would like to thank all the coaching and support staff for the professionalism and commitment they have shown to the development of all the young people involved.
